Description
You can’t deny the contribution that women made to the World War II effort stateside, especially in the aircraft industry. By 1943, more than 300,000 women were building planes in the U.S., representing 65 percent of that industry’s workforce.
Female hands built the planes that won the war, and their contribution lives on with the popularity of Rosie the Riveter iconography. Whereas Rosie initially served to recruit women into factories, she lives on to represent strong women everywhere.
