Description
The MC-12W "Project Liberty" aircraft were specially modified and equipped Beechcraft King Air 350s to perform USAF Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR) missions. The "M" indicates the MC-12W was a multi-role aircraft. A total of 42 aircraft served in Iraq and Afghanistan from 2009 through 2014. The US Air Force describes the aircraft as a complete collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination system that provided intelligence to operational commanders. Interesting fact: Liberty crews flew more than 400,000 combat hours looking for enemy forces and spotting Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
