The IC-A25C is a powerful air band handheld with 6 watts of power and an IP57 waterproof rating. The handheld uses AA batteries for power and has substantial price savings. The easy-to-use interface and large 2.3-inch High Visibility LCD display combine to provide stress-free programming and in-flight operation. All these functions and more increase safety up in the air.
Icom features you've come to love are still available in this new model. This model includes flip-flop channel recall, detailed battery status, 121.5 emergency key, weather channels, priority watch, and more. This version uses a AA Battery Pack. Rechargeable Battery and Charger are sold separately. Does not include a Headset Adapter

I just passed my Part 107 FAA test for a sUA pilots license, and so I have a lot more appreciation for needing to have situational awareness as I fly my drone. I am in an Airspace G area, but very active skydiving and military base. I use this radio to listen to local aircraft operations.
I really like being able to put AA rechargeable batteries in this, clip it to my belt, and head out the door to fly the drone after checking local winds/temps. Very quality built and very easy to use if you threw away the packing material, such as the dead tree labeled, "Owners Manual." Pilot Mall shipped very quickly, and despite a weather shipping delay, it got here fast, safe and sound.
Pilot Mall has the best prices, great service, and I highly suggest this radio if you fly drones and want to have situational awareness of local aircraft.

This is my second ICOM handheld transceiver. I use them both. They are excellent radios.
